The Power of the Mind

The Power of the Mind

When I was about 15 years old a schoolmate wrote these powerful words in my autograph book, "The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven", a quote by John Milton. I'm not sure that I processed the meaning back then, but what I do know is that it had an effect on me. Years later I fully understood it. We have the power to create our own heaven or hell, depending on the thoughts we hold in mind. I've come to embrace the belief that "thoughts held in mind produce after their kind", which is in effect what Milton said. We experience a state of well-being when we choose thoughts of wholeness, peace, love and prosperity. This is heaven. Conversely, we experience sickness, lack, and limitation when we think negatively. This is hell. Such is the power of the mind. With so much seeming negativity swirling around us, the temptation is to get sucked in and begin to focus on the outer appearances rather than on the truth of our being. The Unvierse is rigged in our favor, so our success is assured - if we choose to hold that thought. Thoughts held in mind produce or re-produce after their kind. So knowing that we have such powerful minds, how will we use them to shape our lives, worlds, and affairs? Heaven or hell... which? Isn't it awesome to know that we hold the power to shape our experiences from moment to moment? We have the ability to unleash the power of our imagination to bring our dreams into visible manifestation. Question is, what kind of dreams are we harboring? Ones that benefit us and others or ones that turn into nightmares? Wow! That's a big responsibility! Are you ready for it? Your wellness depends on it!!
